The
Chicago Fire had its first international exhibition against Polish
Orange Ekstraklasa (First Division) club Wisla Krakow on May
21, 2008, at suburban Toyota Park. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in
a friendly played before 14,040 fans. Fire forward Tomasz Frankowski
(center) is familiar with Wisla Krakow. The 33-year old spent the
majority of his career (177 appearances) with Wisla, helping the
club win five Polish Championships (1999, 2001 and 2003-05), two
Polish Cups (2002 and 2003), and took home the title of top scorer
three times (1999, 2001 and 2005).

Michael Madejski (left) and Dr. Jerzy Waleszkowski were at the
Polish Consulate in New York City as the Republic of Poland honored
Madejski with its Officer's Cross of Merit for his many
contributions to the cause of a free and independent Poland during
and after the war.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk (at podium) took part on May 9, 2008, in
the ceremonial celebrations marking the 63rd Anniversary of the
Liberation of Stutthof Concentration Camp. According to the head of
government, there are few places in the world where scars after the
events that took place 60 years ago are still vivid. As a result of
effect of impossible living conditions, shooting, hanging, murdering
in the gas chambers, death by heart injections, beating and
torturing, about 65,000 inmates died a martyr’s death.

Representatives of the Polish American Congress (PAC) have been
conducting a Voter Registration Drive and greeting parishioners
leaving the churches and helping them complete the required
enrollment forms. The latest drive took place at SS. Cyril and
Methodius R.C. Church in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. Shown
are Chris Rybkiewicz (left) Chairman of the Voter Registration
Committee and his assistant Bogdan Bachorowski as they instruct the
parishioners regarding current regulations determining their

Zabawa [Party] sponsored by the Charles Rozmarek PNA Lodge in
Chicago on May 31, 2008.

Among the guests at the President's Brunch of the Polish American
Association, originally formed as the Polish Welfare Association,
were (l. to r.) Grazyna Migala of the Polish Women's Alliance of
America, Shirley Dudzinski of the Polish Women's Civic Club and T.
Ron Jasinski-Herbert of Polonia Today Online. The fund-raiser took
place at artist Jerzy Kenar's Wooden Gallery in Chicago.
